The indexes of elasticity coefficient of energy consumption,absolute energy consumption coefficient and energy consumption intensity were applied to compare the relationship between energy consumption and economic development of the United States,Japan,India,and China.The results show,the three indexes can reflect to some extent the status quo of the four countries in energy consumption and economic development from different angles of view.A few suggestions and countermeasures were provided to governments and corporations for decision making.
