This article is intended to deal with the principle of the measurement of the focal length by means of a parallel plate shearing interferometer and the influence of the parallelism of the parallel plate on the measurement. A discussion is given of the method of determining the position of the focal point when the measured lens is with primary astigmatism. The measuring results are also included.
