In this paper, an optimization analysis of a single stage vapor compression refrigeration plant is made, in which the effects of the irreversibilities of both the cycle and condenser are considered. As a result, the effects of the geometric configuration and size of the condenser to the optimum operating parameters and the irreversibilities of the plant are obtained.A comparison in performance between the two designs based on the conventional method and the present method has also been made. The results confirmed that the optimization method proposed in this paper is reasonable, and it is relevant to use this method taking the probable frontal area of the condenser into consideration in designing the plant for saving energy.
