In the course of inspection for involute tooth profiles taking the tip circle of gear measured as the reference of measuring coordinate system, the error of the tip circle would cause a great effect on the measuring accuracy. In this paper, we introduce the method to set up the measuring coordinate system and the analysis for the influence of the tip circle's error on the measuring accuracy of the portable instrument.
