In this paper. the instrumental variable method for structure determination of a multivariable system is mainly studied. The model used is canonical input-output description. Based on Ahmed's structure determination procedure, a revised recursive algorithm is given. The computation effort is greatly reduced in the given algorithm. Simulation results show the algorithm is effective.
