Undercutting phenomenon is an important problem in gear transmission. In many monographs abroad, there are not any proofs of it but only some descriptions. Some domestic textbooks only give proofs under special condition of rack cutters and proofs under general condition of gear cutter are not strict enough. In this paper, the author makes a strict and simple proof by means of curvature circle of involute.
