Management Information Systems (MIS)is a new field related to computer, management and human behaviour, in which a lot of problems need to be studied. Few of them, however, are studied at home, which produces an impact on the theory of computer applications and benefits. In this paper the situations of MIS research at home are investigated systematically.The data gathered are analyzed and compared with the data of the American MIS research provided by 331 doctoral dissertations. The data gathered through investigation show that most of MIS research at home up to now deal with only one kind of variable. Mostly, they refer to the development and application of one system. Almost all the researches are based on case studies or "nondata" research strategy.The "data" research strategy with experimental design and controls are not used. According to the analysis and the comparison between China and American,the paper makes some suggestions for the Chinese MIS research.
