This article introdues a systematic approach to the programming of MCS-51 SCM (Single Chip Micro Computer) used in lathe control. The program includes: a monitor of the lathe console, an editor and a compiler of the source codes for the digit control of the lathe, and a controller of the processing operation of the lathe. In addition, the article also offers an overview of the principles concerning the hardware in SCM-controlled lathe operation.
