Public Health Services (PHS) can be regarded as a system. No significant work hitherto has been done in evaluating the efficiency of the PHS system from the viewpoint of comprehensive assessment, This paper rates the efficiency of PHS by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method and works out an ideal size for two kinds of hospital, The authors' evaluation supplies a great deal of management information to the decision maker, and may serve as the basis of scientific decision making.
