A systematic survey of eleven existing correlations has been made for predicting the local heat transfer coefficient of refrigerants flow boiling in horizontal tubes. These existing correlations are compared with the authors' experimental data and other investigators' data. The results of the authors' data analysis are also compared with some typical correlations. As seen from the comparison and analysis, Kandlikar's general correlation (1990) has higher computational precision and clearer physical concept. It is of universal use and simple computation. Therefore it has practical application in engineering.
