The ultra-precision machine tools are an important part of the modern manufacturing technology, playing an important role in the national industry and economy. This paper, based on the authors' long practical experience in studying the ultra-precision machine tools as well as some detail and accurate data, expounds the development of the ultra-precision machine tools at home and abroad, the key technologies in designing the ultra-precision machine tools and the approach of solving these problems.
