The measuring methods of the astigmatism distribution of an axisymmetrical non-revolving aspherical surface,used in a progressive multi-focal lens, are described in this paper.The principle and the experimental set-up using the Twyman-Green interferometer and the lateral shearing interferometer for measuring the astigmatism distribution are systematically introduced, and the measured values obtained from these two interferometric methods are compared.
