It is necessary to select stream splits by using pinch design method in order to obtain a minimum energy requirement network. In this work the relationship between stream splits and stream matchs or number of heat exchangers is analized. The stream splits network is developed by systematically analizing the matrices of heat capacity flowrates and heat loads and specifying the location of stream splits and their heat capacity flowrates.
