Abstract:A 6-sensor hot-wire probe is used to measure the velocity and the vorticity fields behind the SH panel region of a tangential-firing furnace (TFF). The turbulent characteristic parameters are presented in the paper such as turbulent intensity, skewness factor and flatness factor in a TFF model. The result confirms that the real flow field is not Gaussian. The vorticity fields are also carried out to help understanding the aerodynamics of the flow in that region. It can be concluded that the existing small panel in the upper tangential-firing furnace significantly affects the flow behind the multipanels. Some vortices seem to appear in the right half panel region due to airfoil effects.
