Currently there are lots of software development techniques for e-business systems. The most popular one is based on components which include COBRA, DCOM, EJB etc. Because the underlying development standards, object models and program languages differ largely from each other, it is very meaningful for improving e-business services to integrate the components and transfer them into Web-based application which is much easier to use. As a type of new technique for component integration, Web service has gained regard more and more. Firstly, the definition, characteristics, designing ideology, architecture and future of Web service are introduced, and then its core techniques and standards, including XML, XMLS, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI etc are discussed. In order to show how to use Web services to improve custom relationship management, orders management services which are based on it are created. By doing this, a new solution to integrating components for developing software in e-business is proposed.
