Establishment and verification of mathematical model for improvement of water quality in a river network in the northwest part of Shanghai''''s Qingpu urban area
Based on the principles of convection, turbulent diffusion and mixing of pollutants,a two dimensional mathematical model was developed for evaluating the temporal-spatial distribution of pollutants in a river network located in the northwest part of Shanghai's Qingpu urban area. Two water transfer cases for water quality improvement were simulated with the model. The computed pollutant concentrations at five different sampling points agree well with the measured data and validate therefore the model.
