A class of age-dependent population models,which is a generalization of the Gurtin-Mac- Carny model,is considered.The existence of solutions of these models is discussed by using the charac- teristics method and the uniqueness of the solutions is proved by constructing compression functions. The sufficient and necessary conditions of the existence of nontrivial balanced solutions are obtained.
