Agentbased modeling (ABM) is a bottomup approach for complex system research.The relationship between agentbased modeling and complex systems was described and,some basic concepts of agent and ABM were summarized.By analyzing the application of ABM in social and economic fields and the recent research progresses in literatures,the paper aims to further promote ABM application in various research fields.
