Abstract:Based on a deep foundation pit engineering construction scheme in Shanghai, a finite element model was established to study the deformation effect of excavation on operating metro tunnels. The factors, including the number and position of foundation pit supports, foundation pit reinforcement, position of tunnels, sub-layer soil stiffness and the diaphragm wall stiffness, were focused to analyze their effects on surrounding strata and tunnel deformation. The results show that the number and position of supports have a significant impact on the surrounding strata and tunnel deformation. The existence of tunnels may have a "sheltering effect" on soil settlements and thereafter reduce the settlements of ground outside the foundation pit.The increase of sub-layer soil modulus and stiffness of diaphragm wall can reduce the settlements of ground outside the foundation pit and effectively control the tunnel deformation.
