Abstract:In order to explore the process of gas-solid two-phase flow in a fluidized bed mercury removal reactor, visual experiments were carried out.The experiments were performed at different fluidized velocities, bed material heights, quartz sand particle sizes and activated carbon (AC) nozzle air velocityies. The gas-solid flow characteristics in the reactor were simulated by the computational fluid dynamics method and compared with the experiment results. The results indicate that the simulation model is of the reliability for flow simulation. The increase of inlet air velocity or the decrease of quartz sand particle size is beneficial to promote the violent degree of gas-solid two-phase flow. The AC nozzle air velocity can make the local turbulence in reactor.Under the synthetic action of friction between walls and particles and the bubbles size, the bed material height can hardly influence the two-phase flow.
