Abstract:The resource dependence theory and agency costs theory were combined to explore the impacts of executives' political connection on corporate philanthropy under the background of economic transformation.The multiple regression method was used to test five years' panel data from 2011 to 2015,which were constituted by 87 private companies in Suzhou,Wuxi and Changzhou.It is found that there is a positive correlation between the political connection and charitable donations level of the sample enterprises.And the higher level of political connection,the higher level of corporate philanthropy.A further comparative study shows that the positive influence degrees of political connection and political connection level on enterprises charitable donations level in Wuxi and Changzhou are stronger than in Suzhou.Suggestions about how to use executives' political connection to encourage enterprises to participate in charitable activities were provided from the two aspects of government and enterprises.These proposals not only provide the theoretical basis but point out the direction of action for the private enterprises in Suzhou,Wuxi and Changzhou.
