Abstract:Through compaction tests and unconfined compression tests, the unconfined compressive strength, axial strain and secant modulus of reinforced soil and unreinforced soil were compared. The influence of water content on the compressive strength and deformation of palm reinforced soil under different reinforcement conditions was studied. The influence of water content and reinforcement conditions on the strength and deformation of reinforced soil was explained from the angle of energy absorption capacity. The results show that the optimum reinforcement ratio and length of reinforcement are 0.5% and 20 mm respectively, and the effect of fiber reinforcement is the best when the soil sample has the optimum water content, and the effect of fiber reinforcement decreases near the optimum water content. The energy absorption capacity of reinforced soil increases with the increase of reinforcement ratio, fiber length, and water content, while the addition of fiber reduces the stiffness of soil. In addition, the failure mode of soil samples gradually changes from the single-shear-plane brittle failure of unreinforced soil to the multi-shear-planeplastic failure of reinforced soil.
