Abstract:Hyperlipidemia is closely related to cardiovascular diseases. It is found that supplementation with probiotics which have high bile salt hydrolase activity can contribute to improving lipid metabolism. Lactobacillus plantarum AR113, which has a strong ability to hydrolyze bile salts in vitro, and Lactobacillus casei LC2W, which has a poor ability to hydrolyze bile salts, were both kept in laboratory and examined in vivo to explore their effects on lowering blood lipid levels in high-fat diet mice. ICR mice were used as experimental animals and randomly divided into 4 groups: normal chow group, high-fat group, high-fat + strain AR113 group, and high-fat+strain LC2W group. After 4 weeks of high-fat-diet induced hyperlipidemia successfully, bacterias were gavaged for 4 weeks. Body weight, organ index, serum total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), liver TC and triglycerides (TG) were examined to analyze the anti-hyperlipidemia efffect of two Lactobacillus strains respectively. The results showed that compared with strain LC2W, strain AR113 was more effective in lowering serum lipids and hepatic lipids. AR113 had a significant cholesterol-lowering effect on hyperlipidemia mice.
