Abstract:Taking the new and old MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles) as the research objects, and the two vehicles use torsion beam suspension and multi-link independent suspension as their rear suspension, respectively. The characteristic parameters of suspension system were obtained based on the K&C (kinematic and compliance) test rig. Compare and analyze the difference between the wheel camber angle and the wheel toe angle got from the parallel wheel jump test. Then Carsim vehicle model was established based on the basic data of vehicles. Steering wheel angle was simulated by step input. Effect of two different rear suspensions on the vehicle handling stability was analyzed by the changes in vehicle lateral acceleration and yaw rate. The results indicate that compared with the torsion beam rear suspension, the multi-link rear independent suspension can speed up the steady-state response, reduce the resonance amplitude. Especially in special conditions, it shows much less roll and faster response obviously.
